The Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) has released a report which illustrates the rise in solar energy in the U.S.
The report discusses solar in 2013 which had an impact on the industry, and how many photovoltaic installations were completed and what their capacity finished at.
The issue of price drops was also covered in the report, and according to IREC, photovoltaic projects have decreased costs by 44 percent within the last 5 years. As the prices decreased, the residential solar capacity increased as well.
The impact on the utility sector solar capacity was also positive as over 140,000 PV systems were installed to residents in 2013.
Larry Sherwood, vice president and COO of IREC is the author of the report . He explains that the solar markets are making headway in the US as the PV prices are falling. The need for solar is greater, and financing along with incentives from the government and the industry have much to do with that.
