Although Gulf Coast Office Products specializes in selling office supplies, furniture, printing products and janitorial equipment, its Pensacola headquarters’ evolution as a leading commercial adopter of renewable energy in the region could exemplify the retailer’s identity even more.
Already equipped since 2009 with a wind turbine at its Marcus Pointe facility, the company recently finished completion of a solar installation totaling 407 panels at the campus. The system went live Jan. 6. John Wright, the company’s general manager, said as it pertains to the site’s electricity usage, investing in the energy system simply made good business sense.
“If we don’t have to spend $25,000 on utility costs (each year), that money will be going somewhere else, and hopefully that will enhance the customer experience and also help us give back to the community,” he said. [click for article]
