The nonprofit Renewable Nation is organizing a buddy system for schools that are considering rooftop solar installations.
It is looking for 50 K-12 schools across the U.S., to be paired with schools that already have already gone solar, to learn from others’ experience.
Schools can get more information on applying by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Virtually every rooftop in the U.S. already has been mapped to assess its suitability for solar power generation, according to Renewable Nation.
Of about 125,000 U.S. elementary and secondary schools, about 72,000 are solar-ready, the group said. However, only 5,489 U.S. schools — about 8 percent — had gone solar by the end of 2017. [click for full article]
