A PACE Program agreement was approved by the Flagler County Board of Commissioners on Monday, November 5, 2012. On a 3-2 vote, the commissioners approved a resolution which gives the go-ahead of a Subscription Agreement between Flagler County and the Florida PACE (or property assessed clean energy) Funding Agency. The agreement provides for the ability of the PACE Agency to carry out any voluntary assessments, various fees that can be charged and other items it needs to carry out the program. The PACE program's goal would to create the framework and system to bring energy improvements into the main stream in like VA, FHA, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae have done for home ownership and the home mortgage market. The Program will be run totally by private companies for private individuals. Costs and expenses associated with the PACE program will be paid by property owners who choose to participate in the program.
Bill Gallagher, President of Solar Fit, a solar energy contractor lauds the commission on considering the program as a way to boost local employment.
Qualifying Improvements include clean energy, renewable energy and wind resistant improvements of all kinds voluntarily requested by property owners.
