Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) of the U.S. Department of Energy announces a Florida-Focused Workshop on the Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency Industries in the Sunshine State

The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) of the U.S. Department of Energy is pleased to announce a Florida-focused workshop on the clean energy and energy efficiency industries in the Sunshine State.  The event, co-hosted by the Florida Energy Systems Consortium, is entitled Jobs in the Clean Energy Supply Chain: Securing Florida’s Energy Independence and will take place on September 26, 2011.  The workshop will take place at the Reitz Union on the campus of the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL, which is approximately ten miles from the Gainesville Regional Airport and thirty miles from Camp Blanding.

EERE is convening participants from a broad range of Florida’s clean energy value chain, including construction firms, manufacturers, utilities, researchers and financiers, as well as state and local government.  The workshop will facilitate a dialogue among the participants on the successes, opportunities and challenges in Florida’s clean energy industry and its potential to promote job growth and energy independence for the state.

Among other highlights, Commissioner Adam Putnam will deliver the lunch keynote and EERE Acting Assistant Secretary Henry Kelly will open the workshop.  A full agenda and registration is available at http://www1.eere.energy.gov/jobs_sunshinestate/index.html.
