Broward County: Green Jobs Training Program
 

Broward County’s green jobs training grant program is offering training and placement assistance in PV, solar thermal, weatherization and LEED.

Renewable & Efficient Energy Sector Employment Specialists


Responsible for connecting participants with employment opportunities and providing outreach and support to ensure placement and retention, including the following primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Support, develop and place participants in employment in the energy efficiency and renewable energy industries based on respective skill sets, work history, and job match
  • Conduct participant assessments to develop Individual Training/Employment Plans (ITEP)
  • Establish relationships with employers in renewable energy and energy-efficiency industries to solidify employment opportunities for participants
  • Act as a liaison between employers, unions, and industry subject matter experts in renewable energy and energy-efficiency industries
  • Coordinate job fairs for participants
  • Attend trade shows, job fairs, and other events that may lead to employment opportunities for participants in the renewable energy and energy-efficiency industries
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Local Workforce Investment Board and One Stop Centers
  • Work with Care Coordinators to provide case management for all participants to identify and provide support regarding issues that may hinder participant's program/employment goals and retention of employment
  • Serve as liaison between employer and employee to address any concerns regarding participant's performance
  • Prepare and monitor along with Project Coordinator all reports related to job placement and retention -Reinforce ongoing workplace and life skills training in order to further prepare participants for job market
  • Create, update, and maintain participant case files
  • Carry out employment retention strategies set forth by supervisor

Qualifications and other requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Education, Environmental Science or related field plus a minimum 3 years professional level experience in related field.
  • Experience developing and delivering business presentations and marketing plans for new business;
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills suitable for diverse audiences, such as corporate executives and community outreach environments.
  • Should have experience working with job seekers and populations with multiple barriers to employment.
  • Industry experience in renewable energy or energy efficiency preferred.

Salary range $34-38k plus competitive benefits package

Green Sector Care Coordinator

Responsible for providing case management and support services and linking participants with wrap-around support services, including the following primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive participant assessments -Assist clients in developing an Individual Training/Employment Plans (ITEP) and guide participants through the steps outlined in their ITEP
  • Assist clients in problem solving and individual resource development within their own support group
  • Develop resources to meet client needs
  • Provide referrals/linkages for supportive services and social services, and conduct service coordination with other agencies
  • Act as a liaison with training providers to support participants in their completion of training programs
  • Periodically conduct job readiness, life skills, and retention skills workshops and assist in job development duties
  • Conduct follow-up on working participants
  • Act as a liaison between employers and participants to troubleshoot problems to ensure retention
  • Complete required reports and accurate data entry
Qualifications and other requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, or related field;
  • a minimum of 3 years experience in related field; and case management experience
  • Must have experience working with job seekers and populations with multiple barriers to employment.

Salary range $34-38k plus competitive benefits package

Intake and Administrative Specialist

Responsible for conducting participant intake and providing administrative support, including the following primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Coordinate intake for Energy Training Partnership Project participants, including completion of all forms and collection of data
  • Input participants' data accurately and timely ¶Process referrals from partner organizations and agencies
  • Provide clerical and administrative support for the project staff and instructors
    Type and prepare all assigned reports, forms, correspondence, and other related work as requested in a timely manner
  • Provide support in the maintenance and data entry of participant's case files
    Prepare all invoices and receipts in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with contractual policies
  • Maintain complete files on correspondence, records, reports, and statistics for administrative and quality assurance purposes
  • Take minutes of all meetings as requested by the Project Coordinator
  • Assist in organizing curriculum materials and special projects

Qualifications and other requirements:

  • A.S. degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Education or related field plus a minimum 2 years professional level experience. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills suitable for diverse audiences, computer proficiency, and ability to maintain positive interpersonal relations with the business community, employers, clients and staff. 
  • Experience working with job seekers and populations with multiple barriers preferred.

Salary range $29-33k plus competitive benefits package
