For the last several weeks, FlaSEIA Past President Dave
Bessette of Allsolar Service Company, Inc.; Bill Young
from the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC); Executive Director
Craig Williams of Florida Renewable Energy Association (FREA);
Janet McCulloh (Mrs. Florida America 2009);
and Robin
Reinarts of the National Energy
Foundation have been working on a Solar for Haiti project
and would like to roll it out to the FlaSEIA membership.
As many weeks have passed since the Haiti devastating
earthquake and we here in Florida have been mostly consumed
by the upcoming legislative
session, busy work schedules and or just our plain old day
to day routines, the people of Haiti are still in the
mist of dealing with
lost loved ones, no shelter, no food and for the most part
no hope.
It’s easy to forget. But it’s still
a very real heartbreaking tragedy that will take money and countless
years to rebuild.
We have worked very hard to set up a opportunity for FlaSEIA
and other groups
to HELP:
Overview:
Purpose: To provide Haitians with solar powered lamps (lights),
water heaters, water purifiers, cookers, radios and portable generators.
Plan: FREA (Florida Renewable Energy Association
in concert with NEF (www.nef1.org)
(a unique 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation under the administration
of the National Energy Foundation with project
and technical support from the Florida Solar Energy Center)
have provided a pathway for 100% of donations to reach the
people of Haiti.
We have secured transportation of equipment to Haiti. We
have several groups that will distribute the equipment in
Haiti (including Christian
Charities: www.flvoad.org), we have a spokesperson in Janet
who is preparing to have our message videotaped for immediate
distribution to the news media (along with a press release).
Goal: We have a goal of $200,000 which will buy this equipment
Action: Please click on: http://www.cleanenergyflorida.org/haitirelief.html to see the story and link to donate.
Fellow members, you can help by donating money and materials. You
can pass this opportunity along to your customers via your
newsletters, sales seminars, company meetings, etc.
For those of you that had it in your heart to do so right after the
earthquake and never reacted, this is the time to do so.
Best regards,
David E. Bessette, President/CEO
